Ketamine use 'can destroy bladder' say scientists 17 March 2012 Last updated at 09:41 GMT Help  

The Class C drug ketamine can destroy the bladder, new research has shown.

Researchers at York University have been growing bladder tissue in a laboratory to study what happens to human cells when they are mixed with the drug, which is used as an animal tranquillizer.

Concerns about its increased recreational use, and the harm that ketamine can cause, have led the Home Office to order a review.
